Festival venues include historic places such as the grounds of the National Maritime Museum, The Ranger’s House on Blackheath, the Painted Hall, Chapel and grounds of the Old Royal Naval College, urban spaces like Cabot Square and Westferry Gardens at Canary Wharf, traditional arts venues like The Space on the Isle of Dogs, Blackheath Halls, Greenwich Dance Agency, Chisenhale Dance Space and some locations where you wouldn’t expect to encounter an arts event including Trinity Hospital Chapel, Royal London Hospital’s Garden Square in Whitechapel, North Greenwich and Stratford extended Jubilee Line stations, Beresford Square and the new Riverside Park in Woolwich. Some events take place in more than one location – you have to go with the flow! (we provide the transport of course!) A full schedule is attached but some of the highlights include: THEATRE/PERFORMANCE/DANCEStalker Theatre Company from Australia bring their stunning, outdoor physical theatre performance Blood Vessel to the grounds of the National Maritime Museum, set at the end of time and on a giant, ragged sailed ship, what could be better for a summer night in pre-millennial Greenwich? Take Me To The River is three site specific dance events linked by the river. Choreographers Rosemary Lee (Painted Hall, Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich) Wendy Houstoun (Westferry Gardens, Canary Wharf) and Noel Wallace (roof of the Queen Elizabeth Hall) have created performances inspired by the settings. Travel between performances on our cruise boat, enveloped in a river inspired soundscore. This great, three-hour event is collaboration between GDIF, Greenwich Dance Agency, Canary Wharf Arts and Events and The Royal Festival Hall. Towering Inferno presents Physical Cinema, a live and immediate music and film event. The audience and the band are enclosed by a circle of five, giant cinema screens and are literally surrounded by a wall of images, sound, light and noise. Cabot Hall at Canary Wharf is the venue for this striking event. MUSICOutdoor concerts include a firework concert with pianist Joanna MacGregor and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and Greenwich resident and all time favourite Jools Holland with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra. An exclusive concert featuring acclaimed ensemble, Les Arts Florissants, direct from Paris at The Old Royal Naval College Chapel and the quirky Quartetto Gelato from Canada at the historic Ranger’s House are two more highlights of an eclectic programme.
