Greenwich Meridian 2000

Greenwich Meridian 2000™ is the operating name for the Millennium and beyond, adopted by the National Maritime Museum which encompasses the Museum itself, The Queens House at Greenwich and, of course, the Royal Observatory Greenwich.

These historic buildings occupy a grand sweep leading from the very edge of the River Thames to the highest point in Greenwich Park.

The Greenwich Royal Observatory is particularly relevant to the millennium activity as it has been since 1884, the site of the and, by international treaty, the official starting point for the next millennium.

It is, in fact, the home of itself.

Greenwich Meridian 2000 will be celebrating and commemorating this unique position in the run up to the Millennium, with a variety of marketing initiatives. These are designed not just for the short term, but to ensure that this world famous heritage site is also well equipped to take advantage of Greenwich's renewed prominence beyond the turn of the Millennium.
