Millennium Dome Auction
Henry Butcher appointed for historic dome disposal

A unique opportunity to purchase a piece of history will be available to everyone following the planned closure of the UK's premier Millennium attraction on December 31st 2000 Henry Butcher International Ltd, will dispose of all the contents, owned by NMEC (New Millennium Experience Company - operators of the Millennium Dome) , that went into creating The Dome, Greenwich.
The Dome is credited with being the largest enclosed space on earth and encapsulates the best in imagination and design. Divided into 14 themed Zones, the Dome houses an enormous range of assets in hundreds of categories, including lighting, audio visual, broadcast & sound equipment, restaurant and catering equipment, stage equipment, office furniture and equipment, golf buggies, battery powered scooters and vehicles. Even the equipment from the world famous Millennium Show, which currently employs 350 people, will be for sale including stage and acrobatic props, costumes and circus rigging.
Henry Butcher International will be disposing of all assets owned by NMEC over the next three months by Private Treaty and Public Auction. The Private Treaty sale process is already underway and includes many of the themed Zones, in their entirety or in substantial parts; Audio Visual and Broadcast equipment from some of the most sophisticated systems installed in Europe; Sound and Lighting equipment from the largest and most complex sound installation in the world. In addition there is also some exceptional exhibition equipment together with access and security equipment and portable buildings. The Dome also accommodates one of the biggest catering and hospitality facilities in Europe catering for up to 5,000 people. (see Appendix 1 for more details).
Some of the assets have been selected for Private Treaty Sale. This Private Treaty sale process will continue through to mid February 2001, further details are available from the catalogue, which is available on request from Henry Butcher (see below for details). However, the majority of assets will be sold by Public Auction.
The public auction is open to everyone and will take place over four days - 27th/28th February and 1st/2nd of March 2001 - and any enquiries regarding the auction will be dealt with after the Dome closes at the end of December. Viewing of the assets will be a few days prior to the auction sale.
Derek Sadler, Henry Butcher's Director responsible for The Dome project says: " We are obviously delighted to have been selected to work on a historic project like the Millennium Dome. We will be offering for sale most of the contents and infrastructure that went towards making the Dome such a talked about attraction - it is a genuine opportunity for people to purchase a piece of history.
