Greenwich Council grants planning permission for the Millennium Exhibition on the Greenwich peninsula |

| Millennium Central established as the company responsible for delivering and operating the exhibition project. | |
| Company shares transferred to the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster - Board and Chief Executive appointed | |
| April | Steelwork contract awarded to Watson’s of Bolton |
| May | Review of Millennium Exhibition by new Government |
| June | UK Government agrees to proceed with the project Government relaunches the exhibition as the Millennium Experience, and transfers the shares in the company to the Minister without Portfolio. |
