Legacy Bid collapsesHM Government withdraws "preferred bidder status"The story so far...On 4 March 1999 HM Government launched a competition inviting bids for sustainable alternative uses for the Dome on its present site when the Millennium Experience finished at the end of December 2000., HM Government's urban regeneration agency for England (which owns the land on the Dome site) are managing the competition in conjunction with the New Millennium Experience Company (owners of the Dome). On 16 May 2000, HM Government announced that two proposals had been selected to advance to the final stage of the competition. The bids in the final shortlist were:
On 27 July 2000 Dome Europe were selected as Preferred bidder On 5 September 2000, Dome Europe, withdrew its offer to buy the Dome. "HM Government regrets this decision, but remains firmly committed to the regeneration of the Greenwich Peninsula." Discussions with Legacy plc, the second short-listed bidder began on 15 September 2000. On 20 November 2000, HM Government announced its decision to grant, Legacy plc, preferred bidder status. 15th February 2000: Preferred Bidder Status withdrawn - Dome is up For Sale again.
