Half a mile north of the High Street is East Court, a former private house built in 1769. Today, its grounds and woods are open to the public, and a stone marks the point where the Greenwich Meridian passes through the town. This Grade II listed building houses the Town Council Offices, and incorporates Meridian Hall.
