OMEGA owes a large part of its watchmaking excellence to the quality of its movements. The most well-known is chronograph calibre 861 which since 1968 equips the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional. As the one and only movement to have functioned (perfectly!) on the Moon, it had successfully passed the greatest number of rigorous tests in the history of watchmaking. Composed of more than 125 parts, its construction required more than 1,000 operations !
