Bringing more people to Greenwich than the Marathon does every month!
1997 London Marathon
We photographed some of the 29,250 runners for the 1997 race and posted them to the web a few minutes later!
Live from Greenwich to the World!
Well that's Blackheath behind us. Did you know that the World's oldest golf club was started here by King James I (of England)?
Henry V came back victorious from Agincourt
Charles II returned to the throne of England. The Peasants Revolted here. The Methodists preached here.
OK. OK
I'm following this thin blue line - where will it take me?
Looks like a quick tour around the history of Greenwich
Up Shooters Hill. I hear Dick Turpin used to be found in these parts.
Looks like a good welcome here today.
Through suburban Charlton
To think that the biggest attendance at a football league match was here.
Looks like they've just turned out.
Now were going down-hill towards the River Thames. Close to the free Woolwich Ferry.
Just past 3 miles and we've gone metric - 5 kilometres!
Then we're really continental - we're going around the round-about the wrong way! Is this England?
Heading east we've arrived at the Thames Barrier.
All these road-works. Must be the preparations for the millennium exhibition. The World's biggest dome should be built here soon.
5 miles down and we're close to the Blackwall Tunnel - its a 100 years old this year and those lorries still haven't worked out that you can't get a 4m high truck through there!!!
6 miles and we've arrived back at the Meridian Line. We're about to enter the western hemisphere. Didn't we leave here a little while ago?
We're entering the heart of historic Greenwich.

Past the famous Cutty Sark. Looks like we're on TV - but is it Sky TV?
Heading out of Greenwich passed St. Alfeges church - spot where the archbishop of Canterbury was murdered nearly a millennium ago. Now we're in Deptford home to Samuel Pepys and other famous characters including Peter the Great of Russia!
Did you know that Chaucer's pilgrims passed this very spot about 700 years ago.
What a relief! Well that's Greenwich done for another year - see you all next year! That blue line just keeps on coming.
So now it's off to central London via Docklands
Have you got the time? Silly question this is Greenwich.
